I have been offered a job with a company that I would like to work for. However, I am also waiting on an offer from another company that would be a better fit of my skills and I think I would enjoy it more. The company that offered me the position needs to know by today if I will accept it or not. The company that I'm waiting to hear from said they would try to decide by today whether or not they would offer me the position. What should I do?

take the job that was offered and then if the other place decides that they want to offer you the job, graciously decline the other one....it doesn't matter if you've been there a day or two.

Tell the company that offered you the job that you would like the weekend to think about it some more.
