You need your marriage certificate to prove you were married in the first place - and it doesnt get returned to you once you are divorced.
Desertion is not a ground for divorce in the UK, but 2 years separation is. I guess you will need her address so that the Court can serve papers on here - but most towns have a solicitor who will give you half an hour's advice free.
