I think you're right on both counts. I suppose it's always difficult to let go of something you love and have enjoyed since your childhood. At the same time I'm sure he believes that if the Packers can surround him with a decent offensive line he will have a shot at that one last day in the sun.
The other reason he is coming back is because he is so close to breaking just about all the quarterback records in the book. He wants to own as many as he can before he retires. He knows that Peyton Manning will end up breaking any records he holds but for at least a short time he would like to have them for himself.

Why would the best QB in NFL's history want to go out #2??? Of course the records mean something. Of course he has something left in him. If GreenBay gets Moss look out Brett can still bring it and has been bringing it for many years with NO offense. Put Manning in GreenBay what do you have thats right people a less than average QB. Put Brett in Indys offense OMG you will get a superbowl team every year. In my opinion Favre is #1 Brady is #2 for very similar reasons!!! Peyton doesnt even make the list sorry. Moss and Favre made a connection in the pro-bowls and they from what I've heard have the same agent. Favre wants Moss in Greenbay from what I've heard. I dont really think Moss has lost a step I just think he knows he is on a crap team and knows even with the effort that QB wont get him the ball anyway so why try?? However, pair him with Favre I think Moss will come back to life he like everyone in the NFL wants a ring!! Might get it if he comes to GB??

Yes he has one more season, maybe two left if he wants to. I don't remember another quarterback having year after year to announce that he will be back like it's been with Favre. This has been going on now since he's been 34 I think.
In the past, many quarterbacks at Favre's age couldn't move in the pocket anymore. Think of Unitas, Fouts, Namath, Marino and the amount of punishment they took late in their careers.
Favre is quite mobile and can still avoid sacks. If you still enjoy the game, play it until you either don't enjoy it or don't perform at a high level any longer. You only have one football career, get as much out of it as you can.

He is not as good as he once was back in his prime, but he is still a lot better than some of the other options out there. Its just he is not going to win games all by himself anymore, he need support from other players, mainly a solid running game and O-line support. If you give Brett time to throw he can still kill teams with his arm. I say brett has at least 2 more seasons in him. He is still a top 10 QB.

Football is a young man's sport. Brett will have a mediocre year at best. He'll be turning over the reigns to Arron Rodgers by wk 6 of the regular season. He might as well make a graceful exit now. He already pretty much assured of a spot in the Hall of Fame so now he should set his sights on a QB coaching position. Any team would love to have him as a coach, not just GB.

With the right offensive line, he could still have some good stuff left.
Favre's problem has always been that he panics just a bit and throws into places he shouldn't. That being said, when he has time to sit back there without fear of getting sandwiched on every play...he could be as good as, if not better than, the likes of Manning, Marino and Elway.
After the disaster in '05, I think this past season he proved that he's not quite done yet. Don't think he'll win the big one in Green Bay this year...or again, for that matter, but he could end it on a playoff team potentially.

He is better than half the QB's out there even at his age, ie David Carr, Aarron Brooks, Pennington, Losman, Caulpepper, Frye, Leftwich, Plummer, Eligh Manning, Campbell, Johnson, Simms, and I may even go out on a limb and say Vick. Tell me there isn't at least one QB on the list I gave you that Farve is better than. If that is the case he shouldn't hang it up because he is still very good even if very good isn't really the standard were used to. I personally think some of the QB's I named should retire ie Aaron Brooks. I am a Steeler fan so this is unbiased

Both. He can still play and I dont think he can imagine life not playing football. I think when his arm has had enough he will be back as someones QB coach, O coordinator or Head Coach because he just loves the game to much to walk away.

While he is past his prime, he still is very good...Lets put it this way...If he went to the Raiders, Lions, Browns, or Texans, he could turn them into serious playoff contenders NEXT YEAR...but he is a loyal Packer, and the Packers are being loyal back...A class player and a class organization...
