When you are out shopping in Glasgow City Centre do you prefer to shop in Argyle Street or Sauchiehall Street?

I used to always shop in Sauchiehall Street, but have recently been going to Argyle Street, which I think I prefer now. They have got pretty much the same kind of shops anyway. Also like Buchanan Street too.

The trouble is that Argyle Street is a street of many parts. The shops west of the Highlanders Umbrella and to the east of Stockwell Street are so run-down that it is depressing. (I can remember when C&A had a shop close to Glasgow Cross - Argyle Street was so much more vibrant then.)

My preference has been, and still is, for Sauchiehall Street. However, I suspect that if Buchanan Galleries expand as they hope to do (building on the site of the present car park) and stay open until midnight, then it will turn Sauchiehall Street into another Argyle Street!

Glasgow will then be reduced to two shopping malls (St. Enochs and Buchanan Galleries), joined by the pedestrianised Buchanan Street.

Argyle Street is much better - has better shops in it and the St Enoch Centre. Buchannan street is overpriced. Try T.J Hughes at the top end of Argle Street on the Trongate - it's brilliant for make up and other things. I'm from Glasgow but sadly don't live there any longer and i miss the shops so much!

Buchanan Street, without a doubt! Both Argyle Street and Sauchiehall Street are a bit run down and decent shops are too spread out.

The fact that someone said the forge is better is hilarius. Don't listen. Buchanon Street and Buchanon Galleries is much better. If your looking for the big stores like Ralph Lauren, All Saints and Cruise e.t.c they are on Ingram Street.

On Buchanon Street you have the likes of Urban Outfitters, Miss Sixty, House of Frasers, Open and Topshop/Topman.

Buchanon Galleries has Gap,Levis, Oneills and tons more cool places.

Hope this helps

you have to do both, but go up queen st to hellfire and osiris and weave ur way thru the streets, kings parade is also worth the effort, just cut thru the pretty boring st enoch centre from the square and out the stockwell st end
