In the old days, it would eat right throught the enamel finish and take the pait off. Nowadays, cars have layers of lear coat over the paint finish and the brake fluid does not react as fast on it. You still dont want to leave some on the paint cuz it can mar it. If you do spill some on the paint finish, immediately rinse it away with plain water. Brake fluid is Hygoscopic and dissolves with water.

It will eat through it. If you happen to spill any on the car's finish, do not rub it off with a rag. Rinse it off with tap water andagain, don't . rub off
