Recently whenever I use Yahoo or Google for search purposes I keep getting redirected to other sites / other search facilities.
This is extremely annoying
How can I get rid of these redirecting influences - they are driving me mad.

Spyware is your problem!

Use Spybot to remove:

It's a free, easy and powerfull spyware remover.

First download and install. Then go to Upgrade and download all upgrades. After, go to 'imunize" and imunize your computer. Finally go to "search and destroy" and do a complete search.

Any doubt, let me know.

Sounds like you have some sort of spyware that doesn't like you using 'official' search engines (known as hijacking); probably because they'll be earning cash off you searching from their page.

First things first, you should open Internet Explorer (which is an awful web browser anyway) and install the Yahoo! Toolbar with Anti Spyware.

Run a scan from a button on the toolbar (its all pretty straight forward) and it should alert you to any spyware you have on your machine. Remove it, as the software will recommend, by just clicking the remove button.

Hopefully this should be the end of your troubles; well, if you stop using Internet Explorer too. I recommend Flock or Opera.

Youve got a trojan / virus / malware on your PC.

If you are lucky you can fix it using an antivirus and a malware scanner... peopel in google recommend AVG or Grisoft antivirus as free programs or buy whichever you prefer. Plus use ad-aware (www.lavasoft.de) to remove ad software.

One PC I worked on was so badly compromised that by the time it had been cleaned up, Internet Explorer had been damaged and we ended up reinstalling the OS. Mind you, there had been 57 viruses on the PC when we started.

Once it's cleaned up, run an antivirus and a personal firewall from then on or your pc will get reinfected as soon asit goes onto the net.

you can try the advance search and use the exact words you are looking for.

using " " to enclose your word..

eg:
"search word"
the result would give you anything that has the word SEARCH WORD
