That's a bit of an open ended question! One yard can be equated to several things.
1 yard = 3 feet
1 yard = 36 inches
1 yard = 0.9144 meters
In landscaping terms a yard is often used to mean a cubic yard.
1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet
For visualization purposes:
1 cubic yard will cover a 9' x 12' area 3" deep.
1 cubic yard will cover a 5' x 5' area about 13" deep.
So if you're calculating to see how much material you need for a 3" layer of bark or stone mulch to cover a planting bed: figure your square footage of bed, multiply that by 3/12 (convert inches of depth to feet) and divide by 27 (cubic feet in a cubic yard) to get the cubic yards needed. So a 10' x 10' (100 sf) bed would need not quite a cy of mulch or a 9' x 12' (108 sf) area would need exactly 1 cy.

You didn't give us much information to go on.
A yard is 36" if you are talking about linear distance.
Dump trucks are sized in yards. Actually, they are CUBIC yards.
One cubic yard is basically a cube that is 36" tall, 36" wide, and 36" long.
A yard is roughly 5 loads of a contractor-sized wheelbarrow, and roughly 40 bushels.
A dump truck is around 5 or 6 yards.

not exactly sure what you are asking here? if you are asking how long a yard is, it's 36 inches or 3 feet
or a yard of material( ie. soil compost...etc) 1 square yard = 9
square feet
A cubic yard is equal to buying 13.5 bags of mulch (2 cu ft/bag).

I would place a few of the larger items in the the front, enough to make folks aware you are having a sale. Utilize the backyard with the other items.
