The blocks do help you in a way, but as the games develops to be much harder & the invaders to be much faster, the blocks tend to wear out faster than on th first levels. Another bad part is your aiming, you need to watch out & to hit the invaders & not the blocks, cause you yourself can destroy them, little by little. In a nutshell, the blocks can help but as they wear down they become a hindrance. It's like a double egde sword. Hope that helps, dude!

I remember knocking them out first! cos on the later levels there was no way to run along the bottom firing with them there!!

I found they helped. They meant that you had to plan your attack a little more carefully, and sometimes got in the way, but also saved your a*se alot of the time!
