I live in Quebec, Canada so I get one full year (partially paid). After 7 months off I miss work, but still I think 1 year is a bit early for a baby to be in childcare 5 days a week.

I told my workplace I would be back in 6-8 weeks after the birth, then went out and found another job. ;-)
Actually, I started working part-time from home about 3-4 weeks after my baby was born. Then I adopted a full-time schedule at 6 weeks (still from home).

I will be going back in 2 weeks, my son will be 10 weeks old. I had a c-section, so I got 8 weeks of leave, then took 2 weeks vacation. Still not enough!!
