They don't. That's a classic example of liberal propaganda being put out by the mainstream media. But this is not new -- Karl Marx, the founder of Communist thought, was basically a disgruntled have-not, and the idea of the rich exploiting the poor goes all the way back to the Middle Ages. Remember the stories of Robin Hood? The liberals see themselves as the Robin Hoods of the modern age because they believe they are morally superior to the evil, greedy rich (which isn't true -- corporate executives as a rule give more to churches and charities than Holly-Weird liberals) and they think it's a noble cause to rob from the rich -- who in most cases work very hard to EARN their money -- and give to the poor. The blame for the huge number of entitlement-minded Americans who believe everything should be handed to them on a silver platter lies squarely at the feet of the liberals. They tell people below the poverty line that it's OK to sit at home all day collecting welfare and contributing NOTHING to our society or our economy. What ever happened to going out and EARNING a living? BOTTOM LINE: This idea of the rich exploiting the poor is one of the biggest lies put out by the liberals, and it's also a good demonstration of their hypocrisy -- liberals exploit the poor by demonizing the rich so they can get voted back into office every 2, 4, and 6 years. The liberals don't really care about the poor. All they care about is keeping them under their thumbs so they can keep their cushy jobs.

Read THE JUNGLE by Upton Sinclair, Study the history of labor relations, Families at or below the poverty line are increasing even today. Look at how bankruptcy laws changed over the past 8 years in the US. Is not the rich exploiting the poor, but legislation creating an economy that victimizes entire classes of citizens who have no advocacy. This is a systematic problem and with the Bush admin so determined to dismantle social safety nets, it only gets worse.

Exploitation of the working class is how the rich get rich. Capitalism is a system by which those who do virtually no work (the super-rich) live very well by expropriating the wealth created by those who do all of the work (labor) into their own coffers. Class warfare is their motto and their representatives in public office spend the overwhelming majority of their time implementing all aspects of that war. The rich use the power generated by their wealth to pursue policies that rape the earth and the working class. These aspects are all laid out, not just by Marx and Trotsky in more extensive studies, but also by the great Albert Einstein in his essay "Why Socialism" which is avialable to read on the Internet.

I don't believe it's ever "acceptable" to exploit anyone. Exploitation not only keeps a poor country from developing, but creates inner conflicts caused by frustration & deprivation. We've seen this happen many times, & it's happening now. The invasion of Iraq, through fear tactics & deceit by our past administration is a good example.

The rich exploit the poor because they are in power and they keep the little man down. Most of the lower class are not asking for a handout they are asking for alittle help to get their heads above water so they can start making their way up the economic ladder.

Systems like CAPITALISM are historically proven to create gulfs between financial statures and results in a narrow Democracy.- The real definition of HOMELAND SECURITY is=All persons working at good paying jobs with benefits. Also you may want to ask the AMERICAN INDIANS what it means to be exploited they where conquered by others who had BIGGER GUNS-Today Americans are being held hostage by BIG OIL CO'S and LEGAL LOAN SHARKS known as BANKS.The BIBLE summed it up this way "Man has dominated man to his own demise".-POOR LEADERSHIP

I guess the rich exploit the poor by owning the companies that create the jobs, that hire the people and then have the audacity to expect them to actually work for their money and not get paid a salary equal to their "rich" employers?? I don't know the answer to this one either. Why so much animosity to people who have made something of themselves and earn their money? Why expect them to "share" their earned wealth with those who are not willing to do the same? People need to stop feeling like victims of everything, get out and get to work and earn your own money.
