If there is water or pollutants (dirt) in the tank you will suck it up (this will plug up filters and injectors) and also with in tank pumps they depend on the fuel to keep them cool, so try and fill when you get to 1/4 tank.

True and false.....HA
True-because if you run it low, there is the chance of water being pulled into your fuel, IF you run tanks for a long time and don't put an injector cleaner/water evaporator additive in water can develop through condensation.
True-as when you run it low you run the risk of freezing fuel lines due to high water content in the winter.
False- If you maintain your vehicle and use a good Injector cleaner regularly. (Bi- Annually) you will keep the water out. But sometimes you can't get to the station. If it were that detrimental to the car the manufacturer would make a way to stop the engine so that damage would not be done. I alwasy drive mine to about 1/8 tank. I have had no issues with this

Most cars now have electric fuel pumps and when running, they generate heat. The gasoline in the tank actually keeps the fuel pump cooled down. The more you drive with a low fuel level, the more heat damage to the pump and sooner failure.
