I gave birth naturally. Beforehand I decided that it should be that way. Once I got to the hospital, I can tell you that I was asking for more! LOL, but I was too far along, and I'm very glad for that. Also, after your baby gets so far along your skin stretches, obviously, and you begin to numb in a way anyhow. It's like your body's own meds. Personally, I think natural is the only way to go. It's a moment in your life like no other and the moment that baby is laid on you, you've already forgotten all about the pain.

I loved labor! Both times without any meds at all. The first one, 17 hours, so amazing!!! The second one, i needed the help of pitocin which made the contractions really strong and purposeful, but within 6 hours another easy birth!
I had a spinal tap many years ago, and the resulting complications made me decide NOT to go for the epidurals and I am SO glad I did it naturally. Both times, as I reached the final stages of labor, I could FEEL my body releasing a huge rush of endorphins, which gave me the highest high I have ever experienced. (Dont ask me how, but I KNOW a good high...lol)
I joke that I would totally enjoy going through labor again, its such an amazing thing... but I hated being pregnant so much and really dont want another child, so, at least the memory is so strong because I didnt take meds!!
Just a tip.. when it comes time to push (the nurses all said I was a great pusher.. only three or four the first time, and two the next time)... deep breath, hold it IN, dont scream (yes it hurts but you can take it, we all agree).... and focus all your might and strength to your butt... and dont hold back!!!! It will seem like a short pain with some tenderness and relief immediately afterward. You won't care though, your mind will be focused elsewhere AND, again, your body is releasing all sorts of wonderful chemicals naturally to help you cope.

It was amazing! That is all that I can say:) I would have to say also that it was so different than being all numb and you can not feel anything else and they are telling you to push push push....and it is less stress when you are doing it naturally:) I had my 3rd and 4th naturally......they were a breeze compared to the first 2 babies!!!!! You also get to experience the baby more alert after the natural birth, remember I did do these births both ways.....and I seen for myself how different the babies interact and the way you feel after wards.....yes it is painful during the process of pushing...it feels as if you are having an extremely hurtful cramp....but then it will subside after the baby is out;) and you tend to forget everything after that because all you are focused on is holding your baby and your partner is there to watch this amazing event;) good luck and best wished to whatever YOU choose:)

My first was completely natural and she was born in 4 hours. It was very painful, but that made it all the more special. I am now pregnant with my second and am in no doubt that I want a natural birth again. I like to feel in control and drugs would have ruined the experience for me I think. But, everyone is different, and it might not be everybody's cup of tea.

Surely the weirdest experience you will ever have!
Your body takes on a mind of it's own and just pushes your baby into the world! Your body really does know what to do even though in your head you don't!!!!
If you have a good pain thresh hold you will be fine and as others have said it does hurt but it is well worth it - all them women who go back again and again, think about it hun, if it was that bad people would only have one baby - right?
Don't worry I am the biggest sh itbag going and if I can do it - anyone can!!
Good luck - health and happiness!

Had a spontaneous labour with my second so went straight to 8cms and had no time for pain relief. I will be honest pain was excrutiating at the time but worth it. Try and keep focused on the end result and that will see you through.
With my first i had an epidural and although pain was lessened (not pain free i might add) the recovery time was a lot longer, i had to have stitches and then a catheter fitted for 24 hours.
Hope this helps (been as honest as possible) - good luck with baby xx
P.S. Can't have been that bad as i went through it twice ;)

I know most have a horror story with their first birth as well as I. I chose to give birth without any pain meds at all. I was in the hospital 3 days trying to have her. I stayed only dilated to three the first two days, on the second day my water broke finally, then on the third horrific day i finished dilating to ten then was told to push i pushed for 5 hours come to find out she was stuck. Both of her shoulders jammed in my hip bones. They used forceps and the vacuum suction three times the suction fell off finally the doctor got it to stay on a nurse laid across my stomach to help push her out because i was so exhausted. In the end the nurse bruised most of my ribs, the doctor ripped the tendons in my babies right arm while he was pulling her out. But that baby is now 12 years old and has some small complications with that right arm but overall she's fine and i survived.

Hi, with my first baby, I had high blood pressure during labour, so was hooked up to drips and pretty out of it. The labour its self was painful, but so easily forgotten once baby is out and sat on your tummy crying.
My second baby was a bit different. He was bigger than expected and was very slow to arrive. Due to his size I had what is called a primary heamorage (please excuse my spelling), which is blood loss during the actual birth its self. Yes, still painful, but again forgotten straight away when baby arrived and shock at the size of him lol.
I wouldn't want to be totaly graffic with the details, because everyone has different pregancies and labours and in no way would I want to put anyone off. The best advice I'd give to any new mum to be, is to relax as much as you can and don't try and fight the pain, just try and go with it.
Hope this helps

I had my second with nothing but gas and air and to regulate my breathing and she only took 6 an half hours it hurts but it goes alot faster coz your in control of your body.natural is best for you and your baby if you read up about the birth drugs youll see have of them not only make you drowsy but also your baby.and in my experience natural is better coz your more aware and alert when baby comes out and it's the best feeling in the world when baby is put on your chest and you look into each others eye's well worth any pain you feel.xx

My wife went in to labour at 7.30am. With no pain killers at all she gave birth to our baby boy at 8.25am.
My wife is very slim and the baby weighed 8 pounds so size is not that important either.
She was brilliant and the birth was perfect.
The trouble is that you only ever hear the horror stories. There are just as many births that are relatively easy going but just don't make the headlines.
