their current form isn't really good.they needed to win the match desperately.
more the midfielders the more no of chances can be set up

It might work.
I think if you control the middle of the field, opening up when it suits you has more impact on attack. If the middle of the field is controlled by one side, the opponent will likely have to try and go over the top and/or on the flanks, exclusively. I think that's how France won its final against Brazil in 98 WC. They dominated the middle of the field.
If you go over the top without control of the middle, you probably have to start play further away from their side of the field.
If you flank without control of the middle, you have a very narrow field of play.
If the 6 midfielders are making runs and trying to create on the attack, it could be pretty and dangerous. Any formation can be effective / ineffective, in my opinion, depending on how it is employed.
