Badgers have been refered to with comic connotations for a couple of years or so now. I can remember a time when badgers weren't particularly amusing and pu55ies, penguins and beavers were the only real stock comedy animals.

The other day I was reminded of that bloody annoying internet page thing that was sent as a joke where it went "Badger badger badger badger badger badger, Mushroom! Badger badger badger... etc. complete with brightly coloured animation.

Was that the turning point - or am I forgetting something of greater significance?

And are beavers still funny, since squirrels have moved in on that territory?

I think the turning point was in Monthy Python and the holy Grail. When he said instead of a Giant wooden rabbit maybe they should build a wooden badger...that stands out in my mind as the turning point for Badgers.

beavers are funnier than badgers
badgers have gained a comedic reputation for being smelly
they may be funny but are still cruelly gassed by farmers, which is massively unfunny
squirrels arent , and will never be , funny
