Geek answer here I'm afraid - but there's a Buck Rogers episode where this happens.
Some wierd scifi thing happened where all the men looked alike and all the women looked alike. Both were very attractive (it was the story line - not just me adding it in). I think the story was it drove them mad seeing their own face all over the place so everyone took to wearing masks to make themselves look unique again.
Just an interesting slant to your question I think..!

What a weird thought but interesting. In the animal world though, they look alike and particularly in the bird world, females are still fussy who they choose and some birds will only accept a mate if he's built a really good strong nest ...LOL

I am just thinking about some of the people out there who have been beaten by the ugly tree. (no longer a stick, that is too pretty). I wouldn't want to look like them even if they would like to look more like me. Reminds me of a guy I saw walking down the road several years ago, his nose was so big it looked like a pipe hanging out of his mouth....

our powers of regognition would probably have to increase, and cosmetic alteration would become more important. people would probably become enamoured with the idea of "a scar with a good story" and facial tatooing.
