smoking or non smoking habits, family health history? All in the guise of a health program??? Are there hidden motives?

It sounds like a pretty sharp employer to me. They must be paying for some nice health insurance benefits for their employees. I think it's very invasive, but if that is their policy, and you want to work there, I guess it's part of the rules. You decide.

although sometimes employers use how healthy you are as a gauge of how you work and how suited you are for the job... I mean if your applying for a late night shift and you've got gout, a heart problem, high colesterol and you smoke... the employer might be taking a health risk by hiring you ...

no boss really wants their employees to die on the job ...... shouldn't look good for the company!!! XD

They simply want to provide the best benefit package for their employees at the lowest cost. Besides, I don't understand today's obsession with "privacy." Do you think the execs sit around the boardroom discussing individuals' health issues? Who knows, someone might make a crack about the size of your a**, but they wouldn't need your medical record to see that.

Yes, it's intrusive. IMO, those questions are none of their business. They don't pertain to the job.
