Mostly, I like mine. They're people I may not have chosen to be close to under different circumstances, but perhaps that's the point. Family relationships teach you how to deal with personalities that aren't necessarily like yours, and there's no easy out (unless you're a bit unfeeling and can just walk away). I've learned a lot from my family, both directly and indirectly. I've come to respect our differences (exasperating though they can be sometimes) and enjoy the challenge of making those relationships work.

There's that question: "If you could go back in time to one single moment, where would you go?" I would go back to the time when I was concieved and tell my parents not to have sex. Perhaps I'd be born into a family with even more hideous circumstances than I was raised in, but I'd be willing to take that chance.

I love my moms side of the family...we are all pretty close. My dads side however I very rarely see and they weren't really around for birthdays and such like my moms was. I can't say I don't like them, but I defiantly don't know them very well. I get along w/ all my family-in-laws too!

I like most of my family. But on my Husbands side. Well, I try to avoid some of his family like the plague. But I think this is typically in a lot of families.

yes
But as you said we have different circumstances - I see them every christmas and we have a good time. Other than that a phone call every two weeks to my mom. Every one seems happy as mom is the only who really cares.
