it is the button in the middle of the keypad, it enables people to use the keypad without having to look at it as it provides a reference point that one can feel with the fingertips

There are also marks on f and j. These are the home keys for touch typing - used mainly by professional typists and not the blind. The marks allow you to identify the keys without taking your eyes from the screen or document you are transcribing - however, most users do not have a clue how to touch type.

THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING BLIND.
It is the same reason there is a mark on the "F" and "J" keys. These represent the home positions on a keyboard/keypad and allow you to verify your hand position without looking. This is very important for people who touch type as the time taken to look down at the keyboard/keypad actually slows them down.
When trained typist is typing they never take their eyes of the document they are typing. these marks allow them to quickly verify their hand position, which is very important when you type at over 100 words per minute, which is not uncommon for a trained typist.

So you don't have to look when you use it, you just slide your middle finger over the keys until you find the 5 and then you know where you are at so you can press the rest of the keys without looking.

This is to help those that are vision-impaired. It helps them find the center of the keypad, and they obviously know where all the other numbers are in relation to the 5.

those markings on the J and the F are for one reason. it rather is for the hand positioning over the keyboard. that's the positioning tabs for the index hands while the hands are located over the keys to variety. professional typists use this as a instruction manual to correctly known the place their hands are with out them watching the keys. that is extensively utilized with the aid of blind human beings as a instruction manual for typing.
