It sounds like The Sword in the Stone/The Once And Future King by TH White. Arthur grows up with a foster family and Merlin is his teacher. He learns along with his "cousin" Kay while Kay trains to be a knight. Arthur assumes he'll be Kay's page. Merlin teaches him things like how to see the world from other's point of view by having Arthur spend the day as an ant or a fish.

I just finished reading The Forever King by Molly Cochran and Warren Murphy. It was about King Arthur but it wasn't about a boy growing up who doesn't know he's the king. It was about a boy in the modern world who finds out that he is the reincarnation of the king. Very good tho! Happy Reading!!

Sounds like something related to the Arthurian legend. Is it Le Morte d'Arthur or The Once and Future King?
