Normally, trees go through a process where the sap travels upwards in spring or warm weather. Then as the weather turns colder, the sap flows downwards in the roots for the winter. It's best to trim most trees when the sap is not active in the tree. Depending upon where you live, it's best to prune them in the late fall.
good luck

i don't understand the place you reside, yet i'm from a smaller city the place the line branch will actual cut back down the tree for unfastened if it in risk of damaging city factors. provided that maximum cities hire cable strains from the cable enterprise, then the city could a minimum of come trim the tree. I accept as true with honestly everyone else, that it won't fee better than around $500. nevertheless, although, verify consisting of your city branch and see in the event that they could have the flexibility to do it for unfastened or a less costly to maintain their investment. sturdy luck.

I think in colder weather especially in the middle of the winter the trees aren't so sappy. It might help to seal off the cut off branch with tree pruning paint.

You can't. Evergreens are just that, evergreen. They will always ooze sap.
