Yes .. it gives out Egyptian currency and there are few machines in Sharm. Sometimes many people withdraw much money, so the machine stop giving out. May be someone told you it doesn't give money. That's the reason and I hope I got you right

:-) Off course ATM machines in Egypt give out money. They give Egyptian pounds. 1 EGP = 0.18 USD..... 5.70 EGP = 1 USD

However your card should be carrying the logos of major credit cards (Visa, Master Card) or the logos of (Maestro) or (Cirrus). You'll find a machine in the Airport so use your card there as they are not as plenty as you may find them in Cairo; its a nice small city on the beach.

not pounds though! You usually get a good exchange rate using your Maestro in foreign machines and it's easier than buying the cash here (well I do with the Euro anyway).

Why wouldn't they?!! They're not going to rob you! If you mean "Does Egypt has enough money?", then YEAH. Egypt is sooooooo rich.
