Hi,
I am two days away from my due date and i've felt a bit 'different' the last few days, 6 days to be exact. I've had braxtocn hick all the way through but i have them now every hr at least (been like that fro a few days) and combined with backache and period like pains. Also had loose bowels (excuse all the details) for a few days. I've heard that these can all be signs of labour not being too far away. How far away exactly? I am soo impatient and can't wait to see my little baby girl and i am hoping every little thing is a real sign. Any advise on this?

Thank you all for great answers! It has now been a few more hours, still the same feelings, no changes but did call my midwife and she did say that something is happening but like most of you said too, it can drag on so she just suggested i'd go to sleep and get lots of rest before my big 'job'! So i will. And thank you again for great answers :)

Hi, Im a mother of three - had similar feelings before all three births. Backache and period like pains with loose bowel movements occured about two days before I went into labour properly. I dont think you will be long now. Enjoy the birth, I know it is difficult but the more relaxed you remain the easier it is. I had no problems in labour and managed to enjoy it. Hope you have a wonderful experience and that you and your daughter are healthy and strong. Good luck.

i would say theses are sings of very early labour i know what you mean by feeling different i felt like that in both of my pregnancies at the end your bowels being lose is your body preparing its self for birth your braxton hicks are now stronger and have a pattering i would start counting these as real contractions especially seeing that Ur are due but sad to say this can go on for days try going out for a walk that can make the contractions abit more defined stronger and mor frequent i know your inpatient i was exactly the same but its not up to us when your wee girl wants to come she will no sooner or no later completely up to her typical woman all ready lol good luck and congrats

It sounds to me like your going to have a baby soon:) Yes all those are SIGNS that you could be going into labor, but the doesnt necessarily mean that you are going to be delivering tonight, as much as you would like too. As for the cramps, call your doc and ask him/her because they might want you to come in for a check to see if your dialated or effaced at all. Look for these signs, too: bloody show(kinda mucus-y and could even slip out when your going to the bathroom), your water breaking, or if you are having 8 contractions in an hour, because that is real labor. If your contractions continue to stay the same, do not become closer or stronger, and you have no other signs of labor, your probably not in labor yet. Just relax and let your body do its thing. Good luck!

Braxton Hicks are common in late pregnancy, preparing you for the real thing, but if you are experiencing pains as well, you are most likely in early labour. Have you gone to the hospital/gynaecologist to have them check if you are dilated or monitor your BH - if they are still that - contractions? Just to see if the pains and the like are actually starting to move things along, or whether it's not the real thing yet...

It does sound like early stages, but be warned that can drag on for a few days, particularly in first-time mothers. Then again, things could heat up any minute. You should call your OB and tell them what you're experiencing. It's doubtful they will want you to come in, but they may have some instructions for you in the meantime.

I think youre getting close, but thats just going by what I've read. I've had 3 kids, but all 3 were induced- each for different reasons, so i never went into labor on my own. I'm hoping to have at least one baby with my new husband, so maybe I'll be able to have that experience next time. Good luck with you!!

it sounds like things are on the move you could be in slow labour which can last quite a few days before anything major happens, try to relax and your baby will be with you real soon, good luck i hope everything works out ok

It sounds like you are getting close. When I was pregnant I never had Braxton-Hicks, not even one. But the day I went into labor I woke up and my body was all tingly and I just knew. Good Luck with labor, it's so worth it! And Congratulations.
