Didn't find any common pH indicator that is blue at pH<9 and colourless at pH >9.

The opposite is true for thymolpthalein : pH range=9.3-10.5 and it is colourless at about pH <9 and blue at about pH>9

pH indicator turns blue between ph 7 and pH 14.

It turns blue only if the substance is basic in nature.

for ex:
If you test Sodium Hydroxide(NaOH) the pH indicator turns blue as the substance is a base.

wow..its been along time since that type of science class but im pretty sure its the kind made with the purple cabbage =o (i really dont know if that helps or not)
