Who said it was ever a "dead embryo"? It is the product of a living cell (an ovum) that itself was alive, and fertilized by a second living cell (a sperm cell).

And let me ask you a counter-question. If we can see the development of a full-fledged animal from a single cell in a matter of months (weeks or even days in some cases), and can understand quite well all the processes involved using scientific concepts that do not require divine intervention, then why is it absolutely *impossible to imagine* that a modern animal could have evolved from a single-celled organism over 4 *billion* years?

FYI: Not an atheist here, but...

It wasn't dead or alive-no more than your finger is dead or alive.
Since most fertilizations result in spontaneous termination-the woman doesn't even know she was pregant-if the pre-fetal embryo is a live baby at some moment because of some deity, that deity kills millions of babies a day. Why would a deity do that??

I would encourage you to come to an actual understanding of conception and implantation before asking such a question again, as it is inherantly flawed.

Why do you think that the embryo was ever dead? It was created from two living cells.

I think the question should be "when does it obtain consiousness"? Do you accept ALL creatures not just Humans achieve this? From the point of conception is the answer? Also, I think being an Atheist or Religious extreamist are both wrong. Need to fully open you mind to get answers..think people.

Why does God have to inspire all life? From where did God arise? A meta-God?
Biology answers the questions of life without sppealling to a God. God is just a way people answer questions they don't understand.
