I'm with you on how good they were in the late 80's and even the early 90's with Out of Time and Automatic for the People, but they've been doing a David Bowie ever since; every time they put something out the critics say it's their best album since (insert name of album from when they were good) and it doesn't turn out to be the case at all. So ultimately, not really, but you never know, they may play a blinder again and catch us all out.

They should have stoped making music in the early 90's because everything they've made since then has been mediocre. However, the music they made in the 80's was great. They were better than U2 in the 80's.

Yeh, I'd care. I don't buy all songs from my favourite artists but REM have made some classics and were fantastic when I saw them in concert.

I've matured, so have they and they might still produce some of their best music. They're not a boy-band that comes and goes, like alot of the dross out there.

Automatic For The People was a classic album but they've done nothing to tickle my fancy since then. Wouldn't lose sleep if they all bought themselves a ranch and retired

When he got interviewed by the BBC I'm sure he said he would try to make one last album and then retire. I would like them to make another one.I always go on their website to see if their is any updates on this.

Their older stuff was excellent but their recent music just doesnt cut it for me. Maybe if they came up with something new and exciting but similar to their old stuff then I woud buy it.

I certainly don't! Their music is soft! And their lead singer is an odd ball. I saw him on interviews and I don't like him. I think he's anti-social. He's probably gay, but it's his personality that I don't like, and their songs. Sorry Adamstipe!

To be honest, I really wouldn't care. That's because I don't listen to them. They never really interested me.
