I forgot to do a shutdown last night. Now, the thing won't start. It was plugged in. I assume it went into a hibernate mode. I tried taking the battery out and putting it back in. Nothing. Can I do anything?? Or, am I F***

I am just guessing but it looks that you may be screwed.

Leaving a laptop on, in a normal situation, should have no effect on it. I leave my desktop on and do a shutdown about every two weeks, and I have had no problems.

No when you took the battery out, you left it out for more than a minute now. I know you have to do this much. Also you should have mentioned which laptop too. There is a difference of a laptop 15 years old to one 3 years old, and should have left a model number. Certain laptops had issues with them. Restate the questions, BUT WITH the model name and brand and how long you have had it. And also if you have had an problems with it before.
