Look for an agent where you are and get a portfolio of your acting work.

Casting Agents will contact actors' agents to let them know when auditions are coming up. TV Commercials (many and varied), bit parts in TV series, theatre or live gigs ... they are all good and can bulk up your portfolio before you try LA where the competition is much harder than at home.

There are on-line casting agents ... I may edit my answer to include one I've worked with before ... just have to find him

first of all get the hell away from john robert powers!!!!!! they are just a money maker. Take your portfolio and headshots and run as fast as you can away from them!!!

So once you finally leave JRP...find a place to live in LA! burbank has some great appartments and there right down the street from disney studios and warner brothers. Next taking acting classes cant hurt at all. Then find an agent. If you go to LA there are huge books with every agency in the area, set up appointments with all of them! make sure you have a kick *** monologue! Last dont expect to be in the movies right away, your gonna have to do some grunt work first, be an extra in movies comercials etc.... next you might land a couple of commercials. Also you probably want to look into getting your SAG card. Youll get paid more money and youll get better auditions! GOOD LUCK!!!

Age 17 is too young to move to Los Angeles. Wait until you are 21. Los Angeles is a great city, but can be overwhelming for a teenager. You should move to L.A. with a female friend, don't move there by yourself.
