Well they increase the ozone in the air which isn't great, but not life threatning.

Only burning of a fuel like oil or gas can give off Carbon Monoxide so your air-con unit is most probably safe. In the old days fridges could be operated by gas, they were called absorption units. An Air-con unit is nothing more than a fridge without a door and they are mostly run from an electric supply. You should however have the unit checked especially if it is more than 10 years old as the fridge gas in it could leak out and they were at one time CFC's which were and are still bad for the Ozone layer. Probably not good for us either.

No as everyone else says it is cars and boilers and the like that produce CO from incomplete combustion. Get a detector. We have one and it went of a few weeks ago. The gas engineer reckons it saved someones life. Maybe not us this time, but it meant we got the problems treated.
Also different AC units and humidifiers can spread diseases, and provide breeding grounds for the bugs. This is a possible danger. Occasionally there will be something in the news because some large building, school or hospital has had legionnaires in the AC, but it can also affect small domestic units.

Any kind of open flame will create carbon monoxide.
I don't know of any air conditioning units that use fire to cool the air... so I think its safe to say "no".
You can get a Carbon Monoxide detector, it looks very similar to a smoke detector.
Central heat/air systems are vented to prevent CO buildup in the home.

I dont see how thats possible. No way. Im new at the HVAC thing-im only taking classes in it. But really, a air conditioner doesnt produce carbon monoxide.

depends on the type of unit you are on about. if its an electrically powered unit then no you cant but air con units can cause nasty illnesses like legionaires disease. but if the air con unit is gas powered then yes you can as carbon monoxide poisoning can mainly be caused by the burning of fossile fuels like natural gas ect.

An AC unit can spread CO throughout a building, but I don't think the compressor itself is capable of generating CO.

if in any doubt, get in touch with the manufacturer and ask them for advice, otherwise your local authority could send an engineer to monitor the appliance, this may require a small charge.

No only things that have natural gas hooked up to them. They have detectors, they are not the same as smoke detectors
