That evening he started throwing up and got diarreah. We called the doctor who said to give him pedialite. Which seems to have helped. But I was wondering if this is normal? I don't ever remember my kids doing this. I'm concerned for his next set of shots.

It's not related to the vaccines. He may have picked up a little stomach bug somewhere.

Common vaccine reactions are usually localized swelling at the injection site, some fever (not over 101.5), and generalized crankyness. And that's not even true for ALL babies. Some kinds get one of those reactions, while others have none.

Oh that might not have been from the shots!! There is a virus going around that he could have caught. Its basically vomitting and diarreah. Most people only sick one day or maybe two so a little guy like that might only have it for a few hours. Most of the time the shots wont cause those kind of symptoms!!

It's possible that he had a reaction, in which case the pediatrician needs to note that and file an adverse reaction report. It's also possible that he caught a virus and that it's just a coincidence that it happened two days ater his shots. The Pediatrician's office is full of sick kids on any given day, even if they have separate waiting areas for sick and well kids, so it's possible he was exposed to something there. Before his next set of shots have a talk with the pediatrician and see what options you have.

Sounds like he's having a reaction to the shots. Follow the docs instrustions and let him know if he gets any worse. Chances are that he will be fine. My son had a fever one time so now I give him tylenol about an hour before we go to the doc.

I think you have reason to be concerned, he may have had a allergic reaction to the shots. Most likely, he just got a little sick from the shots, but with a 2 month old, why take chances.

It sounds like a mild allergic reaction. Let the doctor know at the next set what happened and make sure he understands your concern. It may make him decide to skip shot or keep him under close observation.

Did he receive the rotavirus vaccine (RotaTeq)???
It isn't a shot, its a liquid they swallow. That vaccine can cause him to have severe bowel problems. Babies who received that vaccine have even gotten a total bowel obstruction and needed surgery. Lots of them even died.
Here is an article about it:
