The mythological centaurs were created by the Greeks, and they did not thought that the centaur needs 100 legs. They are half human - half horse after all.

But considering it evolutionary, centaurs really do not need so many legs. From practical reasons, Mother nature always knows how to reach the best performance with the most acceptable handicaps. 100 legs would be extremely difficult to control and would need a large amount of energy to even move them in the same time. So the creature with 100 legs would be a predator not a half-horse creature. Of course these 100 legs prevent the creature from moving long distances without feeding.

Joking is all right man, but just use your brain before asking questions you have already answered for yourself...lol Although I found quite refreshing answering this question, even if it is so absurd.

The centaurs were named after Centaurus, the founder of the race of half-human, half-horse creatures. So the name centaur is from Greek.

A creature with 100 legs is called a centipede, from the Latin for "100 feet".

Asking a question (even as a joke), without getting your facts right, just makes you look silly. People like you probably are in favour of putting paediatricians in jail.
