Have you tried using bottle 'teats' that are designed to decrease 'air' intake when a baby's feeding. Also, make sure you 'wind' the baby immediately after feeds.
Good luck.

I don't think it'll be down to the milk formula - newborns aren't generally that fussy so long as it's milk and there's plenty of it. I found that perserverance is unfortunately the best remedy and also sticking to your guns. Infacol can be useful if he has colic - which it could be - as can gripe juice but if you look to these as an answer rather than to compliment your actions you may be disappointed and baby may pick up on your worry or might notice if you're questioning your confidence in ability to settle him.
Some babies do just take a bit longer to get into a routine than others but it's important to keep trying to get into one.
If you've fed baby, administered infacol etc then I have found in the past myself that walking up and down rocking baby will eventually do the trick and although exhausting, if you keep calm and reassured then baby will be reassured and will become more settled after a period of time. Do seek out help and advice from your health visitor and doctor if you want to make sure you're winding him properly. It's crucial to make sure you are doing it properly - there's often more to come than you think.
I know it seems like forever because you've probably had so little sleep but I promise it does get easier.
If you're worried it may be something more then do visit your doctor or consult your health visitor - they're all there to help and advise you during this stressful and exhausting period.
A great website for support and information is http://www.babycentre.co.uk/.
Good luck and I hope things settle down for you soon.

You should talk to a professional about the food, but I would guess its not good to keep switching like that.. have you tried swaddling him? Some calming techniques work wonders during those moments when the baby seems to be in pain... perhaps the problem isn't his digestive system at all. Try reading "The Happiest Baby On the Block" by Dr. Harvey Karp MD - its a short read or its also available on DVD there are lots of interesting tips and tricks to helping a newborn calm down. www.thehappiestbaby.com It helped us.

COLIEF infant drops worked a treat for my youngest - it is a solution for colic which removes the enzymes from the milk.
The link below gives you some details:-
http://www.parents.org.uk/news/index.html?health-tips.htm&2
I tried Infacol and gripe water and they didn't work for my daughter.
Personally i would try Cow & Gate no1 as i was told that the hungrier baby foods (all makes) can cause constipation.
I hope this helps. Colief was a god send although a bit expensive at £9.99 for a tiny bottle it does quite a lot of feeds.
Hope this helps & good luck x

we spoke to the health visitor about the same problem we were on sma gold she said if we wanted to put her on sma white we could but to do it gradually we decided not to as we had a big baby , 10lb we were also told she would need larger feeds we increased each feed and this was easier and at 8 weeks slept through the night and has continued to do so.she is now 7 months. but if your not doing so already use avent anti colic bottles they have different flow teats these are great .

Hi there, We had exactly the same problem with my first little boy, we put up with him being unsettled for ages until we changed his milk to farleys and after a day he was a different HAPPY baby. We were cautious of changing the milk but very glad we did. The best thing to do is go with your instinct... if you think its the milk then change it trust me you know best and you know your baby. Hope this helps hun, Good luck with everything xx

First you should speak to your baby docor about this...sounds like the baby has colic. A little trick for colic babies - works every time and has done the trick for generations.....
take a 4ounce baby bottle -
boil - very important part - BOIL enough water to fill the 4 ounce bottle.
pour water into the bottle - put 1 peppermint candy in their and let the water cool down and dissolve the candy
you can shake it every now and then so it will dissolve faster.
once it is cool enough for your baby to drink - put the top on the bottle and feed your baby.
Baby will immediatly start burping and farting after just 2 ounces and after drinking the bottle will go sound to sleep.
take a little peppermint candy - the red and white ones that they giveo ut in restaurants etc...

i don't really know what you mean by cow or gate. If you mean regular milk then, he must stay on formula till 12 months at least. sounds like he has colic. Nothing ever really work with my son. He screamed for the first four months. Also, don't give him and solids or cereal till 4 months. you'll make it worse for his tummy as they cannot digest it at such a young age. It's very hard the first year especially if your baby has colic. Just hang in there...it gets better.

I started off my last baby with C&G premium, but she had really bad wind, so moved her (on a friend's advice) TO c&g 'comfort'.
Although her napkins filled up GREEN, she was much more settled and suddenly stopped having so much wind, and if she did cry with wind, it came up so much easier.
I had to change the teats to medium flow as the milk is thicker.
I kept her on it until a month ago (she turned 1 yesterday) then changed to comfort 2.
I can only tell you that this milk was great for my baby, but it's hit and miss unfortunately with milks...

had similar prob with my daughter who is now fine and well at 6 months old...we changed her milk so many times on advice of dr's and health visitor and then in the end she became very ill and a rash appeared which proved at long last that she was lactose intolerant....fine once they put her on special prescription milk. Keep pestering the dr, I dont think the follow on milk is helping as thats a very early age for stage 2 milk as their tummy's cant break it down very well.GOOD LUCK.
