to format a computer (to wipe everything out and restart freshly new again), you would need to have your Windows CD ready, w/o it, you can't be using computer again.

During the setup of Windows, Windows will format the HD (harddrive), so make sure, you make back up of your important files to another drive first..then do the reinstallation.

Now, if you have more than 1 HDs, and want to learn how to format the 2nd HD, again, make sure you save the files from 2nd to 1st HD first. then right click the 2nd HD, select Format. It will take as little as few mins to more than 10 mins..depends how big of your HD is and whether you want to do a quick format or not
