He is 18 and has been seeing a girl of 14 I know it sounds wrong but so far it has been completely innocent, he is aware of the troouble he could into and wants to know if it would be considred statutory rape if they were to do anything, not to have sex but just all th stuff before that?? Like I said at the begining I'm not interestd in peoples personal views on this they see themselves as totaly in love and have enough to deal with everyone else.

With her being 14 it is considered statutory rape or contributing to the delinquency of minor. In some cases they could make a case of molestation. It really depends on the state but the age of consent is usually 16.

Look this is not a judgment. The age difference of 14 and 18 is wide right now. In 10 years, it would be no big deal.

Jeez isnt there better things to do than going after high school relationships. A 4 year difference is nothing in the scheme of things. No one would make a deal out of a 22 year old with an 18 year old. I would worry more about about whether the relationship is good and not over their ages. A 14 year old dating... Who ever did that. Come on can't you people remember back to how many people were dating in high school. Like any new experience you learn as you go. If you wait until you are older you are still going to have your bumps and bruises along the way. Ask your self does the guy treat her good and are they happy. If not encourage her to break up but his age isn't that big of an issue if they are both responsible and happy.

As long as ther is no penetration involved, i'm pretty sure that it is pretty legal in most places, however I think that if the two are really serious about a long term relationship, they should keep it between themselves and very few close friends, as that is what is going to cause them the most trouble.

I was in the same situation when i was younger, and it didn't work out beacuse there were too many people who knew.

My step moter didn't agree at all and made it very hard for the both of us.

I hope they work out, but if they aren't serious, they should just give up now, before they get themselves in trouble.

If they are really and truely in love it would be better for them to wait until she reaches the age of consent in your state before attempting anything sexual. That will legally protect him from not only her but her family should they find out. I have a friend who was in this situation but the girl was 16 and he was 19 but still in high school. Her parents loved him. Well they had been dating since she was 14 and he was 17 but on his senior prom night they messed around. Her parents found out and he is now in jail for lewd behavior with a minor. She was crushed and he was angry at her parents. They do plan on getting married after he gets out of jail but the parents still don't approve of what they did. They were ok with kissing but nothing else.

On the other hand when I was a teen ager I dated men older than me several times and did far more than what the previous couple did, but my parents didn't know! The guys were safe. Today with all of the publicity about abused and sexual offended children it is risky. Your best bet is to sit down with both families and talk out your concerns, especially if he is going to stay with this girl for the rest of his life.

There are 2 issues here, Biblical/moral as well as legal. Good luck to you and your friends.

Well, I believe if it was to go to the point of them having sex, it could be considered statutory rape. Everything leading up to it could be considered molestation by a judge.

IMHO, they really need to see people closer to their respective ages. At their ages, the 4 years age difference is a huge gap.

Statutory rape is the actual act of sex with a minor. Your friend has done nothing wrong and shouldnt worry about it. Lik you said, they probably have enough to worry about, so even if they really do something ''bad'', as long as no ones knows no one can worry about it.

It could be. The age of consent in most places is 17 or 18.

Well 17 and 14 seem worlds apart. If they just fool around I guess not but if they have sex yes.

Yes, if he touches her it could be considered lewd act with a minor. He doesn't have to actually have sexual intercourse with her to end up on a sex offender registry.
