Yes, it definitely has people at war in it. Although war films are generally categorised around a specific, great war such as the World Wars, Vietnam, Hastings, American Civil War, Iraq etc, etc. The American west films are always called Westerns even though they are at war. First Blood was about 1 mans war but I wouldn't call First Blood a war film. Rambo II and III were but not First blood. Even True Lies had some war issues but it was an 'action' film which would be MY category for The Kingdom Of Heaven, sorry.

No, as an epic. Basically because of the time period, and the long monologues.
War films are usually after Westerners discovered how to use gunpowder, and combat becomes more long distance. Epics have unusual scenery and take us to unfamiliar places.

not a war film as such because most view a war film as being army/WW1 or 2 or vietnam, i would list it among historical epics
