Basically, I like some parts of the company, but not neccessarily the part I work in and the boss I work for. I know that in time two divisions will be added that would be more to my liking. Would it be okay to send a letter to one or two higher ups basically brown- nosing how much I liked it there and how excited I am for the new division, because I think it is an exciting step for the company?

I talk to these people occassionally so it's not like they don't know me.

Also, I have NO problem with brown nosing and find it is sometimes needed to get ahead in life. Just wondered if this would be viewed as an obvious attempt to look good....

Also - I am leaving on very good terms.

Absolutely! Also take the opportunity to point out achievements and/or accolades that you want remembered. If it is done tactfully and professionally it can definitely keep the door open for a future return - on your terms.

If you're leaving on good terms and you have no quams that brown-nosing may give you a bad reputation and keep you from getting ahead, go for it.

The company I work for has a very proven track record of rewarding brown nosers with stalled careers. The companies philosophy is that people sucking up will continue to suck up if you keep them where they are. They try to recruit the union officials that have given them the most difficulty. They want to take them away from the unions and use them to go after the unions.

I think you should but keep it simple. It will show your ability to communicate, demonstrate your interest in the company and your understanding it's inner workings.
