What are your views about these abuses? If you have experience abuse, please tell me what it feels like, how did you deal it and perhaps say anything you want other people to know. I will use your testimonies to save other people and give hope to those who are recovering from abuse. I will have a report in campus about these abuses… I can help these people in some ways and you will be a part of it, but it would be a better help if you can share your testimonies. Thank you!

My boyfriend and I had one episode of domestic abuse. He pushed out of his apartment two times and grabbed me with one of his hands and placed his hand o my neck, but didn't squeeze just threatened me with it. My biggest regret is that I didn't take it all the way and testify against him in court. He told me that if I testified against him we would be done and not go out anymore. I really love him and wanted to be loyal so I dropped the charges and I will always regret not stickig up for my self and being a strong woman. A really good book about domestic abuse is called, "Why does he do that?" By Lundy Bancroft. Abuse is all about control I guess I let him win.

In my opinion this is not the forum on which to share experiences of this type. What I would say is that any individual that abuses another is sick and the person being abused is in no way responsible. One can recover, with counselling if necessary, from domestic/childhood abuse to regard it as just one experience in a lifetime of many. My heart bleeds for anyone who suffers abuse of any kind and I sincerely hope they recover to live the lives and experience the Love they deserve.

There are many kinds of abuse.

During my childhood, I suffered a few of them.
I was beaten when I disobeyed my parents. My father would use a leather belt.
My mother did not hit us, she just screamed at us all the time.
Then there was the verbal abuse from my father. He took every opportunity to put us down, belittle us.
When I started getting a figure, my father started looking at me funny, would grab me sometimes, and talked about inappropriate sexual things to me.

So the types of abuse I listed above are: physical abuse, verbal abuse, psychological abuse, and sexual abuse.

The results of the abuse on my life are as follows:
I can't trust men. I am obese because I fear being pursued by men. I can't sustain a non-familial relationship for over two years at a time. I have a hard time believing I deserve any kind of goodness in my life. I get depressed easily. I have unreasonable fears and phobias.

Hope this is helpful to you.

I can speak on domestic abuse. It isn't necessarily a physical abuse that hurts the most, for that will heal. It's the emotional abuse. The abuser will drive the abusee down to a level that they believe they are unworthy of anyone elses attention and if not for them, they would have nothing or anybody. I don't understand how most women will stand by "their man" even when he beats them or physically hurts them. I guess because of what i previously mentioned.

The abuser beging to view their "victim" as a sort of sub-human and treats them accordingly I think. First of all, they talk harshly to them. Start physically hurting them, they the view broadens and deepens.

We each hold the key to our lives and happiness. If you are in this type or any type of environment, it is because you choose to. You also have the choice to leave. Yes, you may think you love him/her, but is this the kind of "love" you want for the rest of your life.

If there are physical marks take pictures and act on the situation right away. even if its emotional abuse. there are plenty of people out there who will help. If its the children being abused ...get them away from the situation .....If you have to pack up and leave then do so. As a parent I would do anything to keep my kids or my friends kids safe from nasty people who cant keep there hands to themselves.

Ok, child abuse most definatly can ruin the rest of your life - if you let it - you find it hard to trust your nearest and dearest. I guess it depends on each person and their inner stregnths. x

I won't dwell on my abuse, it's not good for the "SOUL"!
And what's done is done!
I'll just leave it at that, thank-you.
All I have to say is......There is "NO" excuse for "ABUSE".....Amen.
