I really wanted to name our baby (if a boy) Dylan Michael James, however my daughter who is almost 7 came up with a kinda nice idea. Now I am not sure what to do. Her name is Tayler and she suggested naming her brother (like the girl knows the baby is a boy or something) Tyler Michael James, for short we can call him TJ. Now my husband is torn between the two names. I thought that it might be nice to name him Tyler since this would be her half-sibling even though they would be raised as whole. But on the other hand I thought that it might lead to a case of the green monster. Can anyone offer any directions or thoughts to the names please? Thank you.

My baby is also due in June! Congrats!! I like the idea your daughter came up with. It is not only a cute name but she will also be able to tell her little brother she helped come up with it. Its a great way to start a bond!!!!

I am not so sure. It's nice that your daughter wants to have some input but it is your child. I think Tayler and Tyler don't go well together because the only difference is the a after t in Tayler. I think Dylan Michael James is nicer. Have you thought of naming him Michael Tyler James? That's a very nice name.

If you named him Michael Tyler James he could still be TJ and your daughter would still have had an input. Good luck!

I think thats nice that your daughter is involved in naming the baby, she sounds like a little cutie! Personally speaking I like the name but it's very similar to your daughters name. On many occasions people have names picked out for their babys and when they are born the name doesn't actually suit the baby, some names can be too heavy (for example Victoria) maybe try looking at a few more names just in case,lol.. you could try http://www.babynames.com and there you will find all different sorts of names and their meanings also, let Taylor look with you! Anyway what ever you decide it's your baby and I wish you the best!! Congradulations by the way.....

I like it a lot! It's a cool name - Tyler Michael James. I like all three of those names. Also, TJ sounds cool.

My name is Dylan and I am a girl and I don't like it because when ever people hear Dylan they think of a boy. So, not to be rude or anything, please don't take this offensivly, I do not want you to name your boy Dylan because I think it needs to become more of a multi-gender name. I would like to see more girls named Dylan, personally.

Also, my Mom's friend has a girl named Talia and a boy named Tyler and I don't think the names are too close (like other people said).

tyler and tayler.............sound too much alike..........try going out on the back porch and hollering tyler and then tayler like you would when they are out playing and you want them home. tayler - tyler..............built in excuse for her to say oh i thought you were calling tyler and him to say oh i thought you were calling tayler. nobody would come and you would be frustrated. [now thats what i call thinking ahead! lol]
but i do like the name tyler and i love the idea that your daughter will feel like she had a part in the process.
instead of dylan michael james, what about michael james tyler or james tyler dylan, or james michael tyler? it gets tyler in there as a second or third name so she doesn't feel left out.
good luck and happy baby!!!!
cheers

I like the idea of Michael Tyler James. My son's name is Michael and he is the only Michael around. It will also sound OK when he is a 30 year old lawyer.Tyler and Taylor - too close. And will he want to be called TJ when he's 16?

Tyler is a cute name, but since your daughter is named Taylor, the two names might sound too close together and cause a few problems later. :) Why not use Tyler for a middle name....Dylan Tyler James. Instead of T.J., he could be called D.J. Then your daughter can still be very proud that she provided part of her brothers name for him.

I think the fact that your daughter is trying to become involved in your pregnancy & baby naming process is great. It shows that she is excited about her baby brother. By taking her suggestion (which is a gorgeous name btw!) she will feel even more included, she will feel proud that you loved her idea and therefore is less likely to become jealous in the long run.

On the other hand this is the choice of you and your husband. If you are both happy with Taylor's suggestion then it seems like the best way to go!

Congratulations & Good Luck!

That's a good idea, just a little too close to being the same name for my liking. But sounds good. I like the idea that you are involving Tayler in the whole process. Hope this helps you out.
