What on earth is a cafe doing in a swimming pool?

What does the cafe look like? Clean, inviting or dark and dingy? Does it smell good? Do you advertise the prices so that they can be seen without people having to walk in the cafe? Have you tried giving out discount vouchers where they pay to go in - e.g. free coffee or tea with meal? Free crisps with every take-away sandwich?

Don't forget - many people may just use the pool for an hours lunch break, and have to grab a snack at their desk as they have no time left.

I would surely start by asking the passers by - do a quick survey (ya know 5-10 questions not war and peace) and ask them. Also ask your customer why they did choose you. Also ask the staff.

The act on those results - probably need to do some marketing, so maybe if someone comes swimming twice a week they be intersted in a two for one offer, whereas if is a family of five they maybe want cheap fast food (or juice as somone else suggested), if its a businessperson they make want guaranteed food in 10 minutes so they can get back to work.

Try to arrange a once a week promo with the pool/gym people. for example, a 10% discount on the day's special, or a free drink with the children's order? Just some little extra to get people coming in, and then have a regular change of days and promos to keep up the interest. It is called marketing. Best wishes

Perhaps after all that exercise they want a rest not food. Eating can be just as energy sapping as exercising. Another factor may be that guilt plays a part in the equation. After trying so hard to lose the pounds to be faced with an opportunity to replace them (however healthy the food may be) is just too much for them to face.

No-one goes to gyms/swimming pools for food. You don't want to eat before exercising and most people don't want to eat immediately after exercising.
My two suggestions would be one - focus on children - do party lunches or two focus on real health foods, build up shakes and perhaps include stuff that people can take away to eat/drink later

If people are going to the gym or swimming, they are going to get fit. Why dont you offer them something that is so different, and trendy they will want stop off and get a smoothie, or a salad, so they can have a relaxing time after they have exercised. I know that I wouldnt want to get something to eat after I have just spent an hour excerising it off!

I dont like to eat straight after I work out as I go there to burn off what i've eaten during the day!!
Try serving smoothies and fruit etc - that would drag me in!! I notice the guys at my gym drink loads of those protien drinks - you mite be able to shift a few of those!!
Good luck!!

Depends what kind of food and drinks your selling, if your not already natural juices might be a good idea, stuff like fruit smoothies would be popular I should think there is nothing like a good work out followed by a vitamin packed snack.

are you selling the write stuff?

for the right price?

to the right people?

EVERYONE has to eat, it has to be any of the above 3 that you are getting wrong. Marketing??

Try offering a free tea or coffee with a sandwich, you need to make it part of peoples routine to always stop for food with you after a dip.
