Because they believe humans are just like all animals on this planet. They like to stick to their own kind. When's the last time you saw two different types of birds or fish hanging out. That's why they keep all the different parakeets at Petsmart in seperate cages.
But we're supposed to be smarter, right?
People react with anger when they are scared or don't know about any other culture or religion. Or they choose not to deal with it. They may also think that cultural differences will make the relationship difficult.
But it will take patience if you want them to understand.

I don't think its wrong just that there are so many problems which arise, especially when your cultures are so different.
This is not the case for certain inter racial relationships but particularly with muslims and non muslims as was my case. Being in a relationship with a white guy was just so tiresome as there was too much stuff he found difficult to understand and cope with, problems which i never have to worry about when dating muslim guys.
I've just realised that some inter relationships have no future so incase you want the stress and hurt then just don't bother.
However this is just my experience so i would n't want to put anybody off, LOL!

Think it comes about from old fashioned superstitions....which is so silly...you would think by this day and age people could stop discriminated and realise we are all the same.......when it comes down to it we are all the same when we are born and all the same when we are dead so whatrs wrong with happiness instead of hatread in between???? I am white and personally i think everyone should love each other and if u find happiness and lovre from a person who is a different race then so what........atleast u are lucky enough to havbe happiness

It could be that different groups need to hand down their genes to the next generations, more than likely an in built process of keeping the race on course

I don't mind inter-racial relationships. I think it's very interesting i.e. for my kids to be multicultural and have two native languages. I have about three cultures in my blood cells and I'm happy that I learnt about all these cultures and languages.

I'M not opposed. I'M a white American and my wife is a Hispanic from Panama. I know mostly what you are talking about is the black/white thing. It simple prejudice is all. Not just on the white side but as much or maybe even more on the black side.

You know from looking at people's answers to these Qs I would have thought everyone would be pro-mixing.
I don't like them because I think that a mixed child would have a hard time associating him/herself to any one culture or nationality and they wouldn't be able to find themselves as one thing. They wouldn't ever be either one of their parent's group or culture.
Also constantly mixing will result in a country losing it's cultural identity as a unique people. It wouldn't be nice if every country lost it's identity and the world became so similar and boring.
But as for friendships, I think that you should be friends with anyone you like. But not with intimate relationships.

somestimes i think, they only need a point, on which they can put all their inner bad feelings...and if they see, happy couple, woman white, man black, they maybe feel their inner lonelyness and misbehavior.
it´s inside of THEM. and has nothing do to with black or white, that´s only the outer reason, the fact is, they are feeling bad with themselfes from deep inside...
but, let me say, i am deeply shocked about some statements here
so, i am sure, that rassismn isn´t and wasn´t a problem of my pple only...i am german.

Good Q Sam! It should be what is in people's hearts that matters... not the colour of their skin. Put it down to ignorance.
