Go carb, it is alot less complicated than tbi, plus you get better

If you are gonna be doing any serious trail riding, or excessive vertical climbing, injection is the only way to go. If you are gonna drive on the street and occasional cruise around in the woods, I would leave the Carb alone. Carbs will cause motor to starve and die in the middle of long or steep climbs, where injection works off of a pressurised system so the fuel injection will keep working.

If you are looking for get up and go performance, use the carb. If you are looking into running it through the woods, use the fuel injection. Consider the 'closed' system of a fuel injection and an 'open' system with the carb. If you are getting it dirty often, F.I. otherwise, carb. Expense: carb wins out. You can buy a carb/intake setup for 100's less.
Personal preference: carb.

It all depends how you are going to be using this motor. Also they have made fuel logs for carbs now that feature a return line to send the unused fuel back to the tank. However this would work better if you had an in-line fuel pump(electric) to push the unused fuel back to the tank and to keep the pump from heating up it would run longer and better.

The fuel injection has about the same economy but it has more power - the problem is you have to install the computer module and there are all of the electronics to keep up.
I keep my 1969 300 hp 350Ci because of simplicity and reliability, I get 15 mpg and can carry 2 tons

If you want to go with efi, I suggest a TBI unit. This can be sourced from the junkyard and fitted with new parts. Many aftermarket companies still support this design. This is the simplest and cheapest set up. Gains will be small, but it is easier to maintain and tune. A good carb can give you as much or more power and efficiency.

efi is supposed to be more efficient, but anything tuned properly will give you decent gas mileage... but since you are talking trucks, there's no such thing as a fuel efficient truck unless you're talking about make believe trucks such as the kia sportage or suzuki shiiteboxes.
