I would help the dragon and relocate to a less populated area so that I and other people don't have to fight it again. It pains me to do so.

Tame it and try to saddle break it.

If I could ride the dragon I could protect it from danger, help it find more of his/her kind. Then I would do everything possible to
help in their propagation of the species.

The dragon image has been seen in every culture and most religions known to man. Finding one would be the biggest zoological, archeological and cultural discovery ever imagined.

Plus a man riding a dragon could score more chicks than an astronaut, NASCAR driver or movie star.

well if it's given that I am fighting the dragon, then The dragon isn't exactly friendly. Therefore to defeat it I would have to kill it.

Then I would sell it to a museum, or chop it up into dragon parts to sell as ingredients. Whichever offered the most profit.

Since I don't have to worry about the reality of fighting dragons any time soon, I can be as mercenary as I want.

Oh, and if it was a good dragon I wouldn't have to fight with it in the first place. We could tell a few riddles, reason things out a bit and fly out there the next dark fall.

Depends on the color of the dragon. Black-take his head and mount it in my living room. Yellow-tie him to a tree in my yard for luck with wealth. Red-banish him to my garage. That will be all the time I spend here.
