I read a comment in a magazine that the staff were debating whether it was as good as 'Doctor Who'!

I think both are great in their own way and not to be compared... 'Doctor Who' has been around for centuries.

'Primival' is showing some promise...especially as its a British sci-fi. Not many brit sci-fi seem to do too well which is a pity - so this is refreshing.

I am hoping the writers don't mess it up!

The problem starts when someone says 'it's our answer to...' or that 'It's the ...killer'
As soon as someone makes that claim or boast it guaranteeing failure.
For example, how many times did we hear that the latest mp3 player would be the iPod killer?
The problem lies not so much in the quality of what's gone before but what it stirred in us. The older the item, prog, whatever, the deeper that institution. Mind you, sometimes the older the institution, the more entrenched the fans.
Look at Star Wars. The originals and the prequels. Never a better example of what happens when fandom goes mad!
If Primeval wants to stand a chance they should give it the room to flourish and not make comparisons. Whether you like it or not, the fact that someone has made a show like Primeval (which, after all those dino-docu-dramas (heh.) was bound to happen) means that the door is open to further possibilities, some good, some bad.
Me? I'm rooting for the guy with the scales!

I agree with the Torchwood comment. ITV saw the success the spin off had and planned one of thier own. The budget was obviously limited but it does show promise.

I'll keep watching for the moment, jury is still out could go either way.

Loved Torchwood but the last episode was a bit overly IMHO.

ITV say that it's their Saturday night answer to Doctor Who. But you just can't compare both shows. Primeval is only in its third week where the Doc's been around for forty-odd years.

Primeval's a good show, mind you, but it has a loooooong way to go before it can even think about sitting next to Doctor Who.

I dont like it. I would compare it more to torchwood than Dr Who.
Acting isnt great, effects could be better, shallow storylines, tons of continuity errors, but if you can put all that aside, and just watch it for what it is, it's ok.
I wont rush out to buy the dvd's though!

I watched the first two and I am not going to bother again. It is nowhere as good as Doctor Who. There was so much hype about it but it was a real disappointment to me and my husband.
