what are the main principles & effectiveness of behaviour modification concentrating on time out.?

im doing psychology. does anyone know where i can get any info on this please?

The main purpose is that it gives the child time to think of what they just did. It involves no physical contact but removes them from the group.
If you are consistent at the start at the age of around 2.1/2/3 it works wonders.
