Don't see the problem, if there is more to it surely you would have elaborated in your posting? Presuming she's not expecting you to dive for oysters to find the pearls you can get immitations from dirt cheap to cultured pearls which are a bit more expensive. Why don't you AND your wife give them to her as a birthday or Christmas gift? Also it will soon be Mother's Day!

Did I just read that you also found her in a compromising situation with her dog?!!!!!! If I was yo I would tell your wife, put your house up for sale and move as far away from the mad mother in law as physically possible!!!! Whatever you decide be faithful to your wife.

Best thing to do is go to the local charity shop,preferably,Age Concern(!!!),get a fake one and add a hippopotamus pendant to it.She wont ask again!Failing that,walk around nude in the house whenever she is around.Dude!Tell her to get a life.You married her daughter not her!!!
