I am 25, and I have PCOS. It is so much harder to loose weight when you have PCOS. So many people will tell you to just diet and exercise, but it is just not that easy! Check with your gynocologist and they should be able to help you out. I weigh close to that. I have just learned to deal with it.

The answer is Yes. I am 24 and have been a PCOS patient for 4 years.

There are many websites out there, however, be careful where you look. Medscape.com is great because it is medically based and many nurses I know use this for researce.

I went to a nutritionist and lost 20 pounds over 4 months. There will be many suggestions and what not that people give you. The number one suggestion I got was to drink water! Over hydrating yourself will keep your body happy and can't hurt you. While many suggest nothing but fruits and veggies, there is a lot more to it. While fruits are great, they also have a lot of natural sugar in them. It's 100% good to get your daily amount, but don't overeat fruits, refined sugars or starches. The advice I got was to try to stick to the food pyramid. And if you want to eat pasta or bread, eat whole grains. Not wheat, but whole grain!! And for meat, fish was great. Or even lean chicken. Also, if you must take any type of pill, I would suggest a multivitamin. Like the one called "weight smart."

Also, with any type of regular exercise the weight should come off a bit easier. For me, it was a 30 minute walk in the mornings. I had double knee sugery in 2003 so it took a bit longer for me to get with the exercise part.

But with healthy eating and at least 30 minutes/ 3 days a week of exercise, you should be on your way to better health.

I wish you the best of luck! If you want to talk, just e-mail me. I have a couple of great websites.

PCOS does make weight harder to lose for many women, because our bodies develop problems using glucose properly. There are many ways to help treat this though, and aid in weight loss, though losing weight isn't easy. In addition to exercise, women with PCOS are often prescribed medications like Metformin, to help with insulin regulation. It's also sometimes suggested that women with PCOS use a low carb or low g/i (glycemic index) diet, both for weight loss and to help maintain healthy insulin levels. Combining some or all of these things may help you lose weight. You may want to speak to your doctor and a nutritionist to help come up with a healthy plan for losing, and maintaining weight loss.

Good luck.

It's easy to loose weight if you really like it. I was 56 kgs last few months but now i'm 48 just for 5 weeks. I did take some kind of chinese slim tablet and it works!! This can control your food appetite also. The name is white pear, you try this if that is available in your country. You reduce your food in take also, drink plenty of water and eat more fruits especially juicy fruits. Avoid acidic beverages and fatty foods. Loosing weight is very dangerous when you really taking it seriously. Just step by step, not once.. Hope to hear from you...

It is harder to loose weight with PCOS....one thing, watch your sugar and starchy foods. Not saying don't eat them, but don't over do it.

Your gynecologist might be able to help you with a medication to normalize your hormones, and it might aid with weight loss once this is done. Do a lot of research; there's a lot of information out there. However, avoid stuff like diet products and herbal concoctions to be safe - just trust your doc, and see a nutritionist.
