I have a Sharp M/W & it happens to me a year ago. I took it to a repair shop & they wanted $50.00+ to instal a new display panel. I just use it with out seeing the display. All the buttons still work like, defrost, popcorn, 1 min cook etc. I can do with out a clock for $ 50.00. . .

Buy a new one. I work in the white goods industry and I know based on customer feedback that with this fault, you are better off buying a new one. It is not worth the hassle or the dollars as microwaves are so cheap now. Also based on feedback, it is Sharp microwaves that have this happen all the time, is that what you have? Tips: buy a new microwave, don't buy another Sharp, buy one with 2 year standard warranty, spend over $200 and purchase a 4 year extended warranty from $29 at the time of purchase.

I'm sure it would cost more to fix it then buy a new one...unless it's still under warranty.
