there is a new estate being built right behind my garden.
i went away in september only to find on my return, that a house was built next to my south facing back garden, i am now in total shade, and i had not recieved any notification,,
can anyone help me on advice. can this new build be knocked down, help !!!!

I guess your location would play a major part in this. If this was in the UK then you should have been consulted in some way. If they are restricting your light then you may be able to sue them for compensation. In this case I would assume that they would have had to apply for planning permission to build the house and in that case the council should have contacted the neighbours for their views.

If the council did not contact you then you need to find out why. If the house was built without permission then you should complain to the council who will force the builder to apply for retrospective planning permission. If this is refused then the house will be torn down.

You would have had your chance to dispute it at the planning stages. They would have to have had notification in the papers and planning notices on the boundary of the property / site - you must have missed it . Not alot you can do now. xx

THe coucil is the only one that an help you. SO ring them and see what can be done about this. Good luck
