This is random, so I will give 10 short answers... 1) When you feel like you love that person more than you love yourself, 2) When you feel like they're driving you crazy, 3) When you feel like you're not good enough to be with that person, 4) When they constantly put you down, but you deal with it, because you feel like they're the best you can do, 5) When that person physically/mentally/emotionally abuses you & says they're sorry, but proves to be unrepentant, 6) When you feel like you have to modify your self-expression for that person, 7) When you're being used, ignored, or unappreciated, 8) If you think that person could truly be the Devil in disguise, even for a second, 9) When you have to hide anything that you own for any reason, 10) When you feel like that person may not have true feelings for you at all... Give up if any of these apply.

Unfortunately, you can't just "give up" being in love. You can only control what you do about it.
When you realize that a healthy mutual relationship isn't going to happen, you should walk away.
It's going to hurt for a good long while, but it's better than hurting the one you love... and yourself.
