Wow. There are so many choices from Motown. You can't really go wrong with Marvin Gaye or Stevie Wonder. There's the Supremes...the Temptations...the Commodores! Depends on what type of atmosphere you want to create. If you are looking for fun, dancy music, get yourself some Commodores and Stevie Wonder. If you are looking for classic R&B...more mellow stuff...go with Marvin Gaye or Smokey Robinson.

However, if you are looking for one disc of the 'greatest hits,' there is a disc called Motown Classics Gold. It's a 2 disc set...all the greats.

Try websites for downloading (don't know if your willing to pay)

Failing that any good music shop will have a selection of them.

Remember they want a motown night but explain that you have some but not a lot. I'm sure if you explain this and after all you are doing this for free then they will be delighted...

You will be great and have a fab night.

Note for Cybermoose - most DJ's put CD's in players these days - it's what makes the noise come out! Duh! lol

In answer to your question - what about a bit of 'Mustang Sally' style stuff? Not strictly motown but it's a good party track and i'm sure they won't be too anal about it - they'll just want to have fun and a dance. Good luck! Hope it goes well!
