Actually, I haven't heard any blacks come out against Obama--they're just hanging back to get a better feeling for who he is. Not a bad plan, in my book, but not a sign of dislike.
I know his mother was a southern Baptist, and assume she was white, but I could be wrong. Does it matter? The guy's got great things to say.

Senator Obama's mother is White and his father is black (originally from Kenya). The reason more and more White people are drawn to Mr. Obama is because for once there's a Black Presidential candidate that doesn't scare White people. That sounds harsher than it's meant to be, but it's the truth.
More and more Black people are starting to see that finally there's a Black candidate who truly has a shot at the White House--more than Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton ever had--combined!

Just look on google or wikipedia, everybody here seems to be doing that. I think she is an American woman from Wichita. Anybody, regardless of race, one race can appeal to a different race at some point. It could be because he is outspoken and charming in his interviews. Kind of like Paul Robeson (back to wiki). Being black left him controversies a many, but he was a musician, writer, actor, and (a Black man in popular culture of his time) and he was just a charismatic and nice guy, and he is remembered throughout the world. Anyway the point is, is that congress is changing too. There are no longer going to be just men, and just wasps in congress anymore. So whoever is going to be the next woman or black congressperson, there WILL be a lot of media circuses following closely. As to why the white like him more than blacks, wikiwikiwikitt. Love and Respect.

1. yes.
2. American blacks have a problem with blacks that white people like. Specifically, the black "leadership" attack any black that whites like as being "not black enough". Their worst fear is that blacks and whites will get along, and then they'll be out of very lucrative jobs.

He has black skin and is well educated. If he was a Republican, he would be called an "Uncle Tom"
But because he is so liberal, many blacks will vote for him because he matches their skin and then the rich white NIMBY's* will vote for him to show the black how fair they are (unless you are a black Republican like Condi Rice). The NIMBY's will donate enough to his campaign so when he pushes through legislation that forces quota systems, higher taxes, etc, it won't happen by them. Feel sorry for him - they don't like him, they just want to be able to say they vote for a black man for President.

What whites like him? He has been a media darling only because he is black. Otherwise he is a very ordinary black man.

Dunno. And the second part of the answer is an unpopular truth. Generally speaking we treat people of the oppisite race better than our own. We tend to give people of other races the "benefit of the doubt" when we would not extend the same courtesy to our own (most crime does not cross racial lines).
